The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites expressions of interest from potential applicants for both the STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships (ERF) and Royal Society University Research Fellowships (URF). Both Manchester-based and external candidates are encouraged to consider applying; the department currently has 14 fellowship holders on these schemes and a strong track record of supporting […]
Three early-career researchers in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester, Dr Kara Lynch, Dr Alex Keshavarzi, and Dr Morgan Hibberd, have been awarded prestigious Ernest Rutherford Fellowships by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). These fellowships will provide funding for the next 5 years, allowing the researchers to further their ground-breaking work in their respective fields of Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, and Accelerator Physics.
Dr Giles Edwards MRSC The Recycling Organisation for Research Opportunities or RORO for short was founded as a registered in charity in 2009. The main mission objective is to provide access to sophisticated scientific analytical instrumentation to academics in developing countries that cannot afford such capital assets that we often take for granted. It is […]
This week for our Society Spotlights series, we are joined by the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Society.
This week on the Department of Physics and Astronomy blog, we’re joined by the Physics Netball Society!
This week, the Nuclear and Particle Physics Society (NPPS) joins us on the blog as part of our Society Spotlights series.
Our new blog series, Society Spotlights, will be shedding light on some of the amazing physics-related societies that you can join at The University of Manchester. And who better to kick us off than PhysSoc?
This week Louisa Mason joins us on the blog. Louisa is a Master’s student who joined the university in on our Physics with an Integrated Foundation Year course. Louisa told us all about her university experience, the work she’s been doing at Manchester and her lunch with the Lovell telescope.
Do Earth-like planets exist? And, if so, how can we find them? At a 2022 event for Undergraduate Physics Offer Holders, Dr. Eamonn Kerins, Senior Lecturer in Astronomy, delivered a taster lecture: Exoplanets and the hunt for Earth-2. Eamonn delved into some of the technology and theories that allow us to explore other planets and stars from the ground.
We’re pleased to invite expressions of interest from potential applicants for both the STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships (ERF) and Royal Society University Research Fellowships (URF). Information on the ERF and URF can be found at the STFC and Royal Society websites respectively. Please note that schemes have not officially opened yet, but you can refer […]
