Easter break
Student experience 7 April 2015
It is now Easter break and time to relax… kind of! It is good to be home and having a little break from uni. This three weeks off was needed!
Before breaking up for Easter, I had two of my mid-term tests. Both of which went quite well. I still have two mid-terms left and two pieces of coursework to hand in after Easter. One piece is on ‘MATLAB’ for Calculus and the other is using ‘R’ for Statistics. Both are quite difficult to get used to given I am not very good at coding, but it I will get there in the end.
Before finishing the term, my flat mates and I went for a meal together at Red Hot World Buffet. I always go to ‘all-you-can-eats’ expecting to eat everything in sight! And then after 1.5 plates, I gave up! But we had a really nice night. And we all got student discount!
In case you didn’t know, when you are in university halls, there is something called ‘Hall Sport’ which is where you can join in playing different sports and doing different activities all for free! These activities are held all over campus and don’t cost a penny. My friend and I tried badminton in Fallowfield and it was so much fun. We met a few people and got some exercise while we did it.
As Jess also mentioned in her last post, we have been able to apply to be PASS Leaders. I am so excited to become a PASS Leader as I have found it so useful myself. It is really good knowing people in the year above and they can really help you with the course material and even things completely unrelated to maths, like accommodation.
I don’t go out much, but lately I have been making more of an effort so I don’t look back on my first year wishing that I had. We all went out on St. Patrick’s Day to Tiger Tiger. I really enjoyed myself and it was fun seeing everyone in their big green hats. We also went for drinks at a posh pub called ‘Brown’s”, in Manchester. It is probably a bit posh for us uni students, but it was so classy. Nothing like Weatherspoon’s, instead of curry club it was lobster club!! Haha.
Have a great Easter break!
Katie
