Welcome to EES 10 July 2020

Congratulations on your offer to study with us, we are delighted you chose the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences for your postgraduate study.

We realise that, given the current situation with COVID-19, it’s a bit of a strange time to be starting university, and we understand that you’ll have some questions about joining us in the autumn. That’s why we’ve asked our Head of Department, Mike Burton, to say a few words about what will happen over the next few months and when you join us in semester one.

We’d like to reassure you that we are working hard to develop our online teaching to give you the best possible learning experience and so that you leave us equipped with the skills and experience necessary to take up opportunities in industry. We are also thoroughly assessing our buildings, labs, and teaching spaces to ensure they are safe for small group teaching and practical work while simultaneously developing online alternatives to these should government advice change.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Manchester this autumn.  See you in October!
