International Student Profile: Tsz Ming Cheung – Hong Kong, China

In the latest of our International Student Profiles we meet Tsz Ming Cheung, a second year student studying MChem (Hons) Chemistry. He is originally from Hong Kong, China.
Why did you want to study Chemistry at Manchester?
I always had a great passion in physical chemistry when I was doing my A-levels. Therefore, I would like to explore more in the physical chemistry fields, especially when Manchester is such an outstanding university for science.
What do you enjoy most about the course?
I am particularly enjoying having discussions about some chemistry topics with my tutors and mates. They always give me ideas that haven’t come to me yet.
And the wider University?
The University provides a great platform for students to build up their networks.
What are your thoughts on Manchester as a city?
Manchester is an interesting city. You can find nearly everything you want here.
What did you study immediately before starting your course?
After A Levels, I read a bit of ‘Atkins’ Physical Chemistry’.
How do you see your time at The University of Manchester helping with your career plans?
The University provides lots of different opportunities for students to get to know more about different careers. For example, the Chemistry school held several workshops of companies for students.
Has your time studying at The University of Manchester caused you to rethink or alter your career plans?
I don’t think so, but I know more about different careers.
What would you say to someone considering coming to Manchester to study Chemistry?
I think Manchester should always be a university on your UCAS list if you are thinking of doing Chemistry.
And outside university… what do you get up to in your spare time?
I chill out with my friends, grabbing some food with them.
