The SuCCEED hosted a stand at Manchester Museum’s Science Fair on March 9th and 10th 2026 as part of British Science Week. The event saw nearly 1200 pupils from 26 schools visit the Museum. The SuCCEED stand, entitled “Biofuels and Enzymes” showcased how our research uses enzymes for the production of sustainable fuels and chemicals. The stand featured three hands on demonstrations where children used enzymes to digest sugars, grew their own protein crystals and learnt about biosensors.
The SuCCEED stand was one of three hosted by research groups from the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB), with other stands representing FutureBRH, Manchester Biomolecule Engineering Centre (MBEC), and the Cricle Project from Professor Neil Dixon’s research group. A common theme between the three MIB stands was how biotechnology can be used to drive the transition to a more sustainable future.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the SuCCEED outreach stand!
