Congratulations to Ahmad Ghanayem, one of our SuCCEED PhD students who is one of the winners of the International Organization for Chemical Sciences in Development (IOCD)’s 2025 essay competition.
This year was the IOCD’s third annual “Essay Competition, Young Voices in the Chemical Sciences for Sustainability” which is open to entrants under 35 and is supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry. The competition has a new topic every year, this year’s being “From waste to wealth: how chemical sciences can sustainably transform waste into valuable products”. The 2025 competition attracted a record number of entries from around the world covering a range of topics related to minimising and valorising waste from many different sources.
Ahmad was the Middle East and North Africa regional winner for his essay “To scale or not to scale? Re-engineering biorefining for a more sustainable and circular future”. Read Ahmad’s publication.
