Have you ever wondered what volcanic rocks look like close up? The 3D models of volcanic rocks were created using photogrammetry techniques. Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs. Photogrammetry is an extremely useful technique in Earth and planetary sciences for measuring 3D objects, from rocks and meteorites to volcanoes and other topographical features. These 3D models were created by taking tens of photos of the rock samples and then processing the images in Agisoft Metashape.
