Success with the STFC for Three Early Career Researchers
Fellowship Opportunities 26 April 2023
Three early-career researchers in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Manchester, Dr Kara Lynch, Dr Alex Keshavarzi, and Dr Morgan Hibberd, have been awarded prestigious Ernest Rutherford Fellowships by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). These fellowships will provide funding for the next 5 years, allowing the researchers to further their ground-breaking work in their respective fields of Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, and Accelerator Physics.

Illuminating the mysteries of matter with DUNE: the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment
Welcome to Physics 28 January 2021
Particle physicists Professor Stefan Söldner-Rembold and Professor Justin Evans are responsible for building key components of the DUNE neutrino experiment. It will answer questions like: why is there more matter than anti-matter and how do star explosions work?

Sound of the Underground: making music from particle physics
Welcome to Physics 18 December 2020
How do you turn physics into music? Composer Nora Marazaite tells us about her piece High Energy Music, inspired by the research of UoM particle physicist Gediminas Sarpis.

Physics talk: The Hunt for the Higgs
Welcome to Physics 2 October 2020
Video talk. Professor Andrew Pilkington discusses the Higgs boson and the standard model of particle physics.

Physics talk: The Big Bang ABC
Welcome to Physics 22 September 2020
Video talk. Particle physicist Dr Marco Gersabeck discusses one of the biggest mysteries around the Big Bang: why are we living in a Universe of matter, which seems all but devoid of antimatter?
