Following the activities that took place at the Museum of Science and Industry<\/a> (MOSI) alongside Graphene Week, The University of Manchester<\/a> would like to thank all those who attended and helped out at the Graphene Experimental Weekender.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you folks!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thank you all for visiting us at MOSI and for building a large graphene sheet. At least 2 square meters without any defects were achieved. Thank you for your creativity and dedication to this event.<\/p>\n

Various other assembles of carbon were made by our visitors such as graphite, fullerenes (including the tricky buckminsterfullerene C60), capped carbon nanotubes, carbon peapods with fussed fullerenes and more creative forms of carbon nanomaterials. All these were spotted on the 2D graphene lattice giving another dimension of fun, innovation and learning to this event.<\/p>\n

Thank you to our international visitors from Spain, Argentina, France, China (Hong-Kong & Taiwan), Italy, Poland, India \u2026. Lesson learnt, we will try to bring a more international crew next time to engage in even more languages.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the end of Graphene Week 2015, the Museum of Science and Industry held the Experimental Weekender (26th- 28th June). A three day festival bringing Manchester\u2019s revolutionary 2-D material to life, Friday kicked off with an adult only evening: \u201cThe Friday Experiment\u201d. Including show-stopping performances from Circus House Manchester- a professional troupe of acrobatic performers and the National Graphene Institute\u2019s Composer in Residence Sara Lowes and her six piece movement: \u201cGraphene Suite\u201d inspired by the relationship between science and music.<\/p>\n

The weekend continued to be just as action packed with outdoor activities, science selfies, the Great Wall of Graphene and the museum\u2019s monthly pop-up, Pi: Platform for Investigation. Researchers from The University of Manchester were also on hand to reveal the wonders of Graphene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
